International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of all women. The 8th of March also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.<\/p>\n

It is even scarier when you are a woman.\u00a0 However, many women travel the world alone and experience things on their own. Traveling alone can be amazing – nobody tells you what to do, no need to argue where to have lunch that day, no need to wait for people to wake up in the morning, you choose what to see and what not to see – it can be amazing.<\/p>\n Many people report that their solo trips are their favorite ones. The following list of our favorite solo female travelers features amazing and brave women that are constantly jumping over barriers and taking life into their own hands. Those women show us that with the right research and preparation, it\u2019s safe for a woman to travel almost anywhere in the world! And for those who are worried about how to travel safely as a woman.<\/p>\n Alice didn\u2019t travel until she was 25. She told herself that she couldn\u2019t afford to travel. That she should work hard and stick to a \u2018real job\u2019. She said to herself, \u2018You\u2019ll get lost if you leave home. You won\u2019t be able to protect yourself. How will you communicate in another language?!\u2019. She told herself she wouldn\u2019t be \u2018capable\u2019 when in reality, all of us can do amazing things if we allow ourselves to. Simon describes herself as a solo and independent traveler for over 20 years, and a 50+ girl young at heart. Deep inside, when Simon ravels she is a \u201cwild spirit\u201d. That\u2019s why she likes solo travel and solo hiking.<\/p>\n When involved in a project, she likes to combine passion with discipline, and thanks to her professional background, she is strongly focused on results and creativity.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Aleah started Solitary Wanderer primarily just to chronicle her travels\u2013mostly solo, but occasionally with friends or travel buddies. The first entry was written in El Nido, Palawan in the Philippines, about a Danish movie that talked about the protagonist\u2019s regrets of not traveling the world while he still could.<\/p>\n After a year or two, she realized that she had readers! These readers started commenting on her posts and sending her emails about how her posts inspired them to travel more, or to travel solo. While most of her posts are about the destinations she visited, quite a few are also inspirational, tips on traveling solo, or thoughts about solo travel.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Kristin’s vision of a better world is one where more women are empowered, brave, and confident in their abilities. Where they explore other cultures, spend more time in nature, and come to love our world more. She\u2019s also an on-air travel and lifestyle correspondent for NBC New York and CTV Canada.\u00a0 A bona fide travel junkie, her adventures have taken her to over\u00a0115 countries on 6 continents.<\/p>\n As the author of the award-winning travel blog \u201cOneika the Traveller\u201d, Oneika is dedicated to inspiring people of color to see the world. A fierce supporter of women who travel, she has keynoted at the Women in Travel Summit, at Women\u2019s Travel Fest, and has been honored with a 2017 Voices of the Year (VOTY) award at BlogHer, one of the premier conferences for women in digital media.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Veronika decided to leave Czech Republic (her home country) and move to the other side of the world, Taiwan, in 2012. You can talk to Veronika in 5 different languages! She admits that she always felt better abroad – in 2014 she visited 15 new countries in one year.<\/p>\n “If someone would tell you: We have got scholarship for you to do your master studies in little exotic island in the heart of East Asia, what would you say?<\/em>”<\/p>\n She encourages women to say yes to opportunities and say yes to adventure.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Stephanie Huff describes herself as a 30 year old PhD student and solo female traveler with a knack for misadventure. Steph has been attacked by a chimpanzee in Tanzania, drove a 35,000\u00a3 car rental into a ditch in Scotland, got food poisoning 10,000 ft up a mountain in Colombia and nitrogen narcosis 120 ft below the ocean in Belize. Sounds painful! But maybe worth it?<\/p>\n Steph says that she is basically the modern-day hybrid of Bridget Jones and Indiana Jones – her life is full of super awkward moments and crazy adventures. For your entertainment, she writes about them right there on her blog.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Claire is a solo female adventure traveler and she started this blog to help women to travel solo and go on more adventures. If you’re wondering where the name “itchy feet” comes from you should know it is a common term for someone who can\u2019t stay in one place for long and loves to travel and explore new places. Claire went through a lot at a young age – which you can read all about on her blog – but she also took steps to become better. She joined the Navy and cleaned herself up! <\/p>\n There is a lot more to her story but in September 2016 she began the next chapter of her life as a Digital Nomad. She had $600 in her bank and a one-way ticket to Guatemala. She didn\u2019t speak Spanish, she knew no one and she had no plan other than that she wanted an adventure!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Leyla took her first solo trip at the age of 15… Now she is staring at 50 years of travel and 96 countries!<\/p>\n This website is for women who have decided to see the world ON THEIR OWN.
