Halloween COVID-19 friendly ideas 🎃

Witches, ghosts, monsters… candy, friends and fun! It’s Halloween already! However, this year might be a bit different: door-to-door trick or treating, indoor haunted houses, and big parties are not the best bet this Halloween.

That’s why we comprised some tips, tricks, and ideas for you to celebrate a terrifying Halloween while keeping it safe for you and everyone.

Halloween costumes ideas to keep it safe

The easiest way to be safe while dressed up is to choose an outfit that already wears a mask: doctors, nurses… If you want to give it a more scary vibe, you can opt for a mummy costume! Just wear your mask under the bandages, and voilà!

Other choices you can choose from:

  • Ninja
  • Astronaut with the mask under the helmet
  • Classic bedsheet ghost, with the mask under the bedsheet!
  • Venetian mask
  • Bane from Batman
  • Ghostface from Scream
  • Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre

If none of these are calling you, you can always give it a twist and take your creativity for a walk: paint your mask to match your outfit: if you’re going as a pirate, add some mustache and a grin and you’re good to go!

Terrifyingly funny ideas for an indoor Halloween

The best thing to do in order to avoid crowds is to take Halloween inside. We compiled some fun ideas you can do at home to fully Halloween while being safe!

  • The always classic pumpkin carving & Halloween decorations! Some bat garlands, witch brooms… And you can decorate masks as well!
  • Scary movies marathon – this is a perfect idea for all ages! For the little ones, keep it mild with some of the classics: Halloweentown, Hocus Pocus, Casper, Nightmare before Christmas… And for the adults, throw some really scary stuff! It’s up to you how scared you want to end the night.
  • Scary stories competition – let the spookiest win!
  • Video-chat costume competition – video call your friends and family to show off your terrifying costume and see theirs!
  • Cook some Halloween theme snacks: mummy hotdogs, monster cake pops… You can look at inspiration here.

Tips and tricks for trick and treating

If you decide to handle kilos of chocolate and candy, remember to keep it extra safe. You can plan ahead some pre-made goodie bags with the candy – just remember to use gloves and a mask while filling them up! Put them on a sanitized table for physically distanced pick-up, and some hand sanitizer on the table too.

And if you decide to go trick-and-treating door-to-door, remember your mask and gloves! Keep yourself safe as well as others- remember we are all in this together. Carry with you some sanitizer, and make sure to wash your hands as soon as you get home. If you have some sanitizer that can be sprayed, go ahead and sterilize the candy to be extra safe. Try to avoid hand-handle candy, and opt for those distanced pick up bags if possible.

At the end of the day, it’s your choice to trick and treat or not. But remember that, while cases keep going up and up, it might not be the best idea to expose you and your little ones. We recommend staying in and put into practice some of the Halloween ideas we mentioned previously.

Have a spooky and safe Halloween! 🎃
