Two of Hawaii’s tropical islands, Oahu and Maui, are among Priceline’s 15 most booked destinations for summer 2021, with Oahu and Maui ranked 5th and 14th, respectively. According to Skyscanner numbers, Honolulu has risen four spots from its 2019 ranking of 12th most-searched summer destination to now hold the eighth position.

There is so much to do in Hawaii that one trip would never be enough for you to experience everything you want to. Mexico – Playa Del Carmen

Playa Del Carmen is a lovely beach town in Mexico that is less touristy and crowded than other parts of the country, which is why many people consider it one of the best places to visit in May. Watersports include snorkeling at Cenote Dos Ojos and Cenote Azul, as well as other water activities.

The town is in an ideal location: close to Cancn’s international airport, but far enough south to provide convenient access to Cozumel, Tulum, and Cobá, among other worthwhile destinations. The reefs here are fantastic, and diving and snorkeling are easy to come by. Rays, moray eels, sea turtles, and a wide range of corals can all be found here. The lavender sea fans provide a beautiful backdrop.

As a tourist, you do not want to miss out on trying some amazing Mexican seafood (however, watch out for the high level of spicy food). It is also the perfect opportunity for you to pick up a few Spanish words. Best of all, from Playa Del Carmen, it is very easy to visit Chichen Itza which is a a ruined ancient Maya city in Mexico’s Yucatan state that covers 4 square miles (10 square kilometers).

South Africa

South Africa’s tourism sector, like that of many other nations, has been through a lot recently. While the rest of the world has been forced to take a break, a new wave of genre-defying artists has been busy shedding light on Africa’s most vibrant cultural culture. In 2021, plenty of new hotels and lodges will open their doors to foreign visitors, including Kruger Shalati, a stunningly smart cabin hotel on a historic railway line.

There is really something for everyone when visiting South Africa. For example, visiting the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden should definitely be on your bucket list. These 5.28-square-kilometer botanical gardens are among the most spectacular in the world due to their location and rare flora. Fuerher, Cape of Good Hope is definitely something one should not miss when visiting South Africa – this 77.5-square-kilometer portion of Table Mountain National Park features breathtaking scenery, nice hikes, excellent birdwatching, and often-deserted beaches. After its most spectacular (but less well-known) promontory, the reserve is known as Cape Point. You can check out the best things to do in South Africa here

During the pandemic, we were all hoping for the time to come for us to travel again. It seems like 2021 may finally be the year where we can start exploring the world and ticking off destinations off our bucket lists again. It is time for adventure – just remember to follow the restrictions, get your vaccine before you go and get tested as much as you can. Safety first, adventures after!
