Barceloneta
La Barceloneta is one of the most popular neighbourhoods in Barcelona. It’s a small, triangular piece of land with Port Vell marina on one side and the beaches on the other. With its authentic local atmosphere and beautiful beaches, it mostly attracts younger tourists.
You can get to Barceloneta beach by foot from the city centre and it should take about 20 minutes from the end of La Rumba.
In the 18th century, Barceloneta was used as a housing location for all the people, mostly fishermen, who were displaced due to the construction of Ciutadella. Some of the first houses here were built in 1753 by the Spanish army which accounts for the military-style layout of the streets. Once the stone walls that surrounded the city were finally demolished, Barceloneta went from being a factory worker area to a leisure, beach and tourist area as we know it today.
Tourists love La Barceloneta for its vibrant location and friendly locals. The authentic atmosphere, the vibrant colours and delicious food always have tourists coming back.
If you’re planning on visiting La Barceloneta and you want to enjoy your stay luggage-free, you can leave your bags at any of our locations around Barcelona, with the closest spot conveniently located just 100 meters away from the beach.
From here, you can also visit other monumental sites such as La Sagrada Familia, attractions such as Camp Nou Stadium and El Raval in downtown Barcelona. Go swimming, shopping or strolling around – we’ve got your bags!
LuggageHero in the press
-
"LuggageHero, which offers online booking with a credit card — thus, eliminating the need for users to have local currency on hand — is one of the most recent players to expand its services. In December the company began operating in New York, where today it has some 250 locations."
-
"One solution is LuggageHero, which was already on the scene in Copenhagen and London, and has now expanded into New York. Its selling point is that it lets you store your luggage in a local shop, café or hotel, which is often more convenient than having to go to a storage facility at a train station."
-
"LuggageHero, which Jannik Lawaetz founded in 2016, currently has more than 300 storage locations in six cities (New York, London, Copenhagen, Lisbon, Madrid and Barcelona) and plans to expand to 39 cities by January 2020."
-
"LuggageHero founder and chief executive Jannik Lawaetz says that the concept was inspired by that mother of invention — necessity — and Airbnb. A couple of years ago, he and his girlfriend rented an apartment in Barcelona via the home-share service. They had a later flight on their day of departure and wanted to continue exploring the city, but didn't want to lug their suitcases around. "
