Venezia Santa Lucia Train Station
Venezia Santa Lucia (or Stazione di Venezia Santa Lucia) is the central station of Venice and it’s located on the island, in the Cannaregio district.
The station is one of the most important train stations alongside Venezia Mestre, which is a train junction on the mainland district of Mestre. These two stations are connected by a railway over the Ponte della Liberta.
The train station is also connected with the rest of Venice by the Vaporetto, a public water bus, and with private water taxi boats. Interestingly, the famous Venice Simplon Orient Express runs through this station.
The construction of Venezia Satna Lucia railway station started in 1860. In order to make way for the railway station, Church of Santa Lucia was demolished and the station took on the name of the church.
The building itself is a reflection of modernist architecture, and in 2009 the station underwent renovations that included construction for better transit flow, more retail spaces as well as restoration of some architectural elements.
With 82,000 passengers and 450 trains passing through the station on a daily level, one can conclude that the station is one of the most important transportation hubs in northeastern Italy.
By leaving your luggage at one of our luggage-storage locations just steps away from the station, you’re left with plenty of time to go sightseeing, and free-handed at that.
Storing your luggage near the station provides you with easy access to several popular Venice tourist attractions such as Ponte di Rialto, San Marco and St. Mark’s Basilica.
With +20 storage locations around this charming city, you can savour your Venice travel experience without spending a minute carrying your bags.
LuggageHero in the press
-
"LuggageHero, which offers online booking with a credit card — thus, eliminating the need for users to have local currency on hand — is one of the most recent players to expand its services. In December the company began operating in New York, where today it has some 250 locations."
-
"One solution is LuggageHero, which was already on the scene in Copenhagen and London, and has now expanded into New York. Its selling point is that it lets you store your luggage in a local shop, café or hotel, which is often more convenient than having to go to a storage facility at a train station."
-
"LuggageHero, which Jannik Lawaetz founded in 2016, currently has more than 300 storage locations in six cities (New York, London, Copenhagen, Lisbon, Madrid and Barcelona) and plans to expand to 39 cities by January 2020."
-
"LuggageHero founder and chief executive Jannik Lawaetz says that the concept was inspired by that mother of invention — necessity — and Airbnb. A couple of years ago, he and his girlfriend rented an apartment in Barcelona via the home-share service. They had a later flight on their day of departure and wanted to continue exploring the city, but didn't want to lug their suitcases around. "
