The Panoptikum
The Panoptikum is a wax museum located in the St. Pauli district of Hamburg. It was founded by Friedrich Hermann Faerber in 1879, making it the oldest wax museum in the country.
Walking through the Panoptikum, you will see that the museum has both, the beautiful faces we glorify, as well as unconventional ones that you could see in the chamber of horrors. Not only will you be mesmerized by the real-looking figures, but the sound will fascinate you too. The audio guide will let you in on the private lives of the celebrities and you’ll hear stories about them – some juicy ones too. Also, in case you might be asking yourself, it costs approximately €40,000 and takes about two years to complete each wax figure.
By leaving your luggage at one of our luggage storage locations, you can visit the museum without having to carry your heavy bags around with you. Conveniently, the closest drop-off location is just down the street from the museum.
Storing your luggage near the museum also gives you access to several other Hamburg tourist attractions such as Kunsthalle Hamburg and Millerntor-Stadium. Also, taking a stroll down Reeperbahn or Sternschanze is more enjoyable when you’re not dragging along your luggage.
According to the owners, the Panoptikum gets about 200,000 visitors a year, and the museum’s motto is “our favourite star in the Panoptikum is – You!” So, be a star and visit this famous wax museum! You can also be the paparazzi and take as many pictures as you want!
The choices are endless, the pictures are everlasting and the travel memories remain when you leave your luggage to us!
LuggageHero in the press
-
"LuggageHero, which offers online booking with a credit card — thus, eliminating the need for users to have local currency on hand — is one of the most recent players to expand its services. In December the company began operating in New York, where today it has some 250 locations."
-
"One solution is LuggageHero, which was already on the scene in Copenhagen and London, and has now expanded into New York. Its selling point is that it lets you store your luggage in a local shop, café or hotel, which is often more convenient than having to go to a storage facility at a train station."
-
"LuggageHero, which Jannik Lawaetz founded in 2016, currently has more than 300 storage locations in six cities (New York, London, Copenhagen, Lisbon, Madrid and Barcelona) and plans to expand to 39 cities by January 2020."

"LuggageHero founder and chief executive Jannik Lawaetz says that the concept was inspired by that mother of invention — necessity — and Airbnb. A couple of years ago, he and his girlfriend rented an apartment in Barcelona via the home-share service. They had a later flight on their day of departure and wanted to continue exploring the city, but didn't want to lug their suitcases around. "
