LuggageHero, fully funded in Seedrs campaign, adds multiple cities, surpasses 800,000 hours of stored luggage at 700-plus drop-off points

FOR RELEASE APRIL 29, 2019

COPENHAGEN — Within 28 hours, LuggageHero, a leading luggage-storage service, had fully funded its €1.23 million equity crowdfunding campaign on the Seedrs platform. With more than 600 investors, it is overfunded and will close its campaign on May 3.

All funds will help LuggageHero, which offers travelers a safe and convenient way to store luggage hourly by using existing locations, such as local shops, cafes and hotels, grow to 30 additional cities by early 2020. The service, named one of PhocusWire’s Hot 25 Startups for 2019, launched in 2016 in Copenhagen and added London and New York City the following year. So far this year, LuggageHero has launched networks in Barcelona, Madrid, Lisbon, Rome, Montreal and Boston. At least 10 additional cities will be online by July 1.

Since it launched, LuggageHero has racked up more than 800,000 hours of stored luggage at its 700-plus drop-off points. Each piece of luggage is insured for up to $3,000 or €2,500. The service is especially popular among users of Airbnb and other non-hotel lodging, which do not offer luggage storage.

Meanwhile, LuggageHero’s vetted vendors, which are compensated for storing luggage, benefit by having extra revenue as well as greater foot traffic and visibility. LuggageHero also is adding third-party integration, which will give customers of participating in short-term rentals even greater ease and flexibility.

Funds from the Seedrs round will largely go toward hiring sales contractors, who sign on local businesses as storage partners. The remaining 30 percent of funding is targeted for online marketing and product development.

“We are thrilled that so many people believe in our success and especially our mission of helping lighten travelers’ loads,” said founder and CEO Jannik Lawaetz, who hatched LuggageHero from personal experience as a traveler and Airbnb host. “Being left with your luggage can really ruin an arrival or departure day. It’s also great that we can help local businesses by giving them an additional revenue stream and extra foot traffic.”

Since launching, LuggageHero has experienced double-digit monthly revenue growth and is on its way to becoming the world’s leading luggage storage service.
