St Peter’s Basilica
St. Peter’s Basilica, also called Basilica Papale di San Pietro in Vaticano is known as “the greatest church in Christiendom.” It is believed to be the burial place for St. Peter, hence the name.
The original church was built in the 4th century by Emperor Constantine the Great. Today, the church is famous for being the most renowned work of Renaissance architecture and is regarded as one of the holiest places in Catholicism. With its location in on the territory of the Vatican City State, it’s one of the most visited buildings in the Vatican.
