Munich Central Station
Located close to the city center, Munich Central Station also known as München Hauptbahnhof is a main regional and long-distance train station in the city of Munich. The train station works close with the München Ost and München-Pasing, two other large rail stations.
The first train station was built in 1839 just to the west of this station, while the current one was established 10 years later and has been rebuilt and renovated many times.
Today, with its 32 platforms, the station serves about 450,000 passengers daily. Popular destinations from here include Vienna, Zurich, Cologne, Venice, Berlin and Salzburg. It is also served by the U-Bahn metro lines U1, U2, U4 and U5, with the S8 trains connecting you to the Munich Airport.
The station offers services such as ATM, banks, Wi-Fi Internet, customer service, tourist information and waiting lounges.
If you find yourself at Munich Central Station with hours before your next train, you can use your time wisely and leave the station to explore the city. What about your heavy bags? You can drop them off at one of our luggage-storage spots which is located just 100 meters away from the station and instantly start sightseeing hands-free.
When you store your luggage with us, you have access to many other popular Munich tourist locations such as Marienplatz, Glockenbachviertel and Theresienwiese. You can stroll around unencumbered and make the most of your travel day before heading back to the train station.
LuggageHero in the press
"LuggageHero, which offers online booking with a credit card — thus, eliminating the need for users to have local currency on hand — is one of the most recent players to expand its services. In December the company began operating in New York, where today it has some 250 locations."
"One solution is LuggageHero, which was already on the scene in Copenhagen and London, and has now expanded into New York. Its selling point is that it lets you store your luggage in a local shop, café or hotel, which is often more convenient than having to go to a storage facility at a train station."
"LuggageHero, which Jannik Lawaetz founded in 2016, currently has more than 300 storage locations in six cities (New York, London, Copenhagen, Lisbon, Madrid and Barcelona) and plans to expand to 39 cities by January 2020."
"LuggageHero founder and chief executive Jannik Lawaetz says that the concept was inspired by that mother of invention — necessity — and Airbnb. A couple of years ago, he and his girlfriend rented an apartment in Barcelona via the home-share service. They had a later flight on their day of departure and wanted to continue exploring the city, but didn't want to lug their suitcases around. "
